YOUTH ACT NOW! kicks off nationwide summer campaign
YOUTH ACT NOW! (Youth for Accountability and Truth Now!) launched its summer campaign and program of action today.
“Ngayong ako ay guro na, at kapag ako ay nag-require ng ganitong unang theme paper sa Hunyo, mapapangiti ako kapag may nagsulat na nag-integrate silang mga estudyante sa komunidad, pabrika at kanayunan. Nag-aral, nagbigay ng pag-aaral, tumalakay sa pambansang kalagayan. Pumuna sa sarili. Nagtasa at nagplano.
Ito ang makabuluhang summer vacation.”
“Nasa iyo ang desisyon kung hanggang saan mo gustong dalhin ang iyong pagkilos. Sa isang lipunang “normal,” tungkulin ko bilang guro na sabihan kang unahin ang pag-aaral dahil ito ang pundasyon ng iyong magandang bukas. Pero alam mong malayo sa “normal” ang ating kalagayan, at wala akong karapatang sabihing magkakaroon ka ng magandang bukas dahil lang sa nakapagtapos ka ng pag-aaral.”

With the current intensification of the political crisis, the growing movement calling for Truth and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s resignation or ouster might still be able to muster enough strength to push the Arroyo government out of Malacañang and mitigate the sufferings it imposed on the Filipino people. But if the Arroyo government is able to again weather the storm and win the race against time, it would leave the nation more deeply scarred.
The start of summer vacation does not mean the end of protest demonstrations against the Arroyo government.
